EDISI NO 20: ICAO PRIORITIES FOR SAFETY

Starting 28th September, ICAO will hold the 37th Assembly Session. The Assembly meets at least once every three years.  ICAO's 190 Member States and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which will establish the worldwide policy of the Organization for the next three years.

At these sessions, the complete work of the Organization in the technical, economic, legal and technical cooperation fields is reviewed in detail, and guidance is given to the other bodies of ICAO for their future work as prescribed in Article 49 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

In preparation for the 37th Assembly, ICAO has conducted a series of meetings, conferences, seminars and colloquiums covering the main critical areas of focus – safety, environment and security.

During 29 March to 1 April, ICAO held a High Level Safety Conference for all States aimed at the Director General level.  600 people, including the Indonesian delegation lead by the DG, Pak Herry Bakti, attended this conference.  This was the key conference leading into the Assembly to establish ICAO’s next three years priorities for safety.
